...and apparently so does A.J. Smith, as proven by him signing last year's passer rating leader to a 6 year deal worth $92 million. With the likelihood of the Bolts having to use the 2010 Franchise Tag on someone like Shawne Merriman, the importance of this deal can't be overstated.
Now let's all get behind our adopted son from Alabama and hope he, with the underrated tutelage of Norv Turner (don't forget what he did for Troy Aikman), can lead us to the Holy Grail of annual NFL team accomplishments, the Vince Lombardi Trophy. And by the way, the game that awards Mr. Lombardi's silverware this year happens to take place in Miami's Dolphin Stadium, where the Chargers last played, and got pummeled in, a Super Bowl in January of 1995. I've probably said this more times than I have fingers and toes, but maybe fate is on our side this year?
Go Bolts!
